STORY OF BIRD OF HAPPINESS NAMED FESTINA

STORY OF BIRD OF HAPPINESS NAMED FESTINA

Bird of Happiness Festina reminds us how important freedom is for human happiness. It brings back the energy of the carefree childhood moments and provides the connection with nature.

Created to refine homes and personalise work spaces. Tactile and made to be held Festina has powerful old Slavic symbols for growth, goodness and insight.

Hand shaped in soft clay and slowly dried in the hot summer sunshine before being fired multiple times in a special ceramic kiln at the temperature of around thousand degrees centigrades.

Careful hand glazing process and a variation of the ancient raku firing bring a final surprise to each Bird of Happiness making  every single one unique with their own story. There is a life happiness in each bird sculpture, born out of synergy of all four elements, fire, water, earth and air. Holding a bird in our hand we feel one with the nature.

Created to ennoble your home and personalise your working space.

Demo Title

Raku firing really is one of the most natural techniques that you can encounter in working with clay. In loose translation the word “raku” means contentment and enjoyment in happy accident..

Originally created for the Korean tea ceremony, and further developed in 16th century Japan.

In raku firing all of nature’s elements are used in the process – earth, fire, air and water and together they create an unpredictable and unique style .

The process of Raku firing differs from other firing methods because it requires the fast removal of the piece from the furnace at their maximum temperature. While red hot, the pieces can be reduced using smoke from flammable materials, or enhanced with alcohol, or decorated with horse/pet hair and feathers.

It is a rather dangerous, unpredictable and amazing process.
