Description

BIRD BANK NO 3

The Bird Bank Collection is crafted using the saggar technique, in which a ceramic piece is slowly freed from its shells formed during firing by hammer and chisel—emerging from them just like a bird hatching from an egg.

While shaping the first little bird, it became clear that the opening did not belong on the back, the belly, or the heart. Inspiration came from nature—the sight of tiny swallows opening their beaks wide while waiting to be fed by their parents. This led to the decision to make the birds’ beaks the opening for coins. The bird banks can hold both small change and larger coins, keeping their saving function practical and clear.

They express the joy of life and offer inner peace derived from the synergy of earth, water, and air exposed to high temperatures. Designed to enrich life and personalize any workspace.

Each bird bank is handmade and unique.

Demo Title

Raku firing really is one of the most natural techniques that you can encounter in working with clay. In loose translation the word “raku” means contentment and enjoyment in happy accident..

Originally created for the Korean tea ceremony, and further developed in 16th century Japan.

In raku firing all of nature’s elements are used in the process – earth, fire, air and water and together they create an unpredictable and unique style .

The process of Raku firing differs from other firing methods because it requires the fast removal of the piece from the furnace at their maximum temperature. While red hot, the pieces can be reduced using smoke from flammable materials, or enhanced with alcohol, or decorated with horse/pet hair and feathers.

It is a rather dangerous, unpredictable and amazing process.
