Pottery wheel throwing EXPLORER EXPERENCE WORKSHOP

57,00 €

Pottery wheel throwing EXPLORER EXPERENCE WORKSHOP for one to four people can be combined with the individual hand building workshop (max 4 people, total time 3 hours and 15 minutes).

How many times have you watched a potter making a mug, a bowl or a vase from a ball of clay? How many times you wished you could try that too? Now you can! Simply complete an application form and add your workshops to the basket.

Here at Art Studio Laura Rainbow we are incredibly lucky to be situated in an unspoilt countryside and only 20-minute drive to the centre of Zagreb. In fair weather we simply place our potter’s wheel in the garden and for an hour you can fancy yourself a potter.

Our wheel throwing explorer workshop is created for you and it lasts one hour. It is possible to book one of our hand-building workshops to follow.

The use of  potters wheel, tools, clay, two firings in the kiln, necessary guidance and tuition are provided.

Our further processing (turning, trimming, drying, firing and glazing) of one chosen piece is also included in the price. Should you like to experience all segments of the pottery making, you are welcome to book one or two individual workshops to trim, decorate and maybe even glaze all your pieces.

After the experience workshop on potters wheel most students like to have a go at handbuilding too, please note, prior booking is required!

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Play with clay will take us to a place of calm, connection and focus. Making pottery is the easiest way to promote mindfulness.

The use of clay and the potter’s wheel is included in the price. Adults who are only escorting children and do not participate in the workshop are not charged.

Demo Title

Raku firing really is one of the most natural techniques that you can encounter in working with clay. In loose translation the word “raku” means contentment and enjoyment in happy accident..

Originally created for the Korean tea ceremony, and further developed in 16th century Japan.

In raku firing all of nature’s elements are used in the process – earth, fire, air and water and together they create an unpredictable and unique style .

The process of Raku firing differs from other firing methods because it requires the fast removal of the piece from the furnace at their maximum temperature. While red hot, the pieces can be reduced using smoke from flammable materials, or enhanced with alcohol, or decorated with horse/pet hair and feathers.

It is a rather dangerous, unpredictable and amazing process.
