Our 12 WEEK CERAMICS COURSE FOR BEGINNERS is designed as oasis of peace, and are adult only. For English speaking students everything is translated in English.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Classes run once or twice a week,  3 school hours at a time.

The students will learn the basics of hand modelling using pinching, slabs and coiling, glazing and decorating. Finished items are stacked in the kiln by Laura, and after they are fired at temperatures of around 1000 degrees Celsius  are ready for the students to take them home.

Complete course  lasts 3 months (12 classes, 36 school hours in total).

In the 1st month the emphasis are on hand modelling and building terracotta clay. Students make their own pieces and also learn about storing and drying clay.

In the 2nd month of the course, students are working and playing with white stoneware clay and more emphasis is given to decorating, embellishing, personalising clay through several different techniques.

In the 3rd month yet another type of clay is introduced and students also  get a chance to glaze their own brand new ceramic pieces and are taking home their finished pieces, fired twice, glazed and ready for everyday use.

Students attending all 12 weeks will personally experience all segments of ceramics’ creation process apart from kiln stacking and firing.
