12 WEEK CERAMICS COURSE FOR BEGINNERS
To experience the synergy of all four elements through the ancient craft and see how it feels to mix water, earth, air and heat we run courses for beginners. They are designed as oasis of peace, and are adult only. For English speaking students everything is translated in English.

TECHNICAL DETAILS
Classes run once a week, 3 school hours at a time.
The students will learn the basics of hand modelling using pinching, slabs and coiling, glazing and decorating. Finished items are stacked in the kiln by Laura, and after they are fired at temperatures of around 1000 degrees Celsius are ready for the students to take them home.
Complete course lasts 3 months (12 classes, 36 school hours in total).
In the 1st month the emphasis are on hand modelling and building terracotta clay. Students make their own pieces and also learn about storing and drying clay.
In the 2nd month of the course, students are working and playing with white stoneware clay and more emphasis is given to decorating, embellishing, personalising clay through several different techniques.
In the 3rd month yet another type of clay is introduced and students also get a chance to glaze their own brand new ceramic pieces and are taking home their finished pieces, fired twice, glazed and ready for everyday use.
Students attending all 12 weeks will personally experience all segments of ceramics’ creation process apart from kiln stacking and firing.
PAYMENT
It is possible to pay by credit card here in the web shop or ask for an invoice. The price for the complete 12 week ceramics curse for the beginners (36 school hours in total) comes with the 10% discount and includes use of all materials, tools, glazes, special ceramics paints, oxides all firings and tuition. Paying in two instalments is at the full price and by specal request. At the end of the 12 week course a discovery potters wheel experience workshop for free.
